The Unholy Trinity (1920) was a film starring Harpo Marx, Buster Keaton and Harry Houdini. No known print of this film exists and there are very few images available besides this poster. Robert Block (“Psycho”) writes of seeing it when he was very young and the film influenced Tod Browning to make “The Unholy Three” 1925. It has been suggested that it influenced Billy Wilder’s “Some Like it Hot,” by way of the 1935 French film “Fanfare of Love.”
The plot of The Unholy Trinity is said to revolve around three reformed con men who dressing like high society ladies use their skills to deceive a crooked industrialist (played by Don Ameche) into donating to Grandma Larkins Home for Wayward Children. Little else is known about the picture. It is the only film that combined the talent of these three great stars.
